EcoRestore Association
is a non-profit organization based in Latvia, founded in 2024 by leading experts from the EU LIFE PeatCarbon project.
Strengthening local expertise and safeguarding intellectual property in Latvia, while fostering collaboration and recognition within the international scientific and ecological restoration community.
We specialize in restoring degraded peatlands and returning them to functioning natural ecosystems.
Our services cover the full lifecycle of peatland restoration, as well as biodiversity and carbon projects — from initial feasibility assessments and methodology selection to project design, technical implementation, and carbon market registration.
EcoRestore objectives are:
To implement sustainable research and management of wetlands and other ecosystems, contributing to the reduction of GHG emissions, conservation and protection of natural values.
To generate new knowledge on the impact of the management of wetlands and other ecosystems on GHG emissions.
Raise awareness among stakeholders and the public of the importance of sustainable management of degraded ecosystems and their climate change mitigation potential.
Why Peatlands Matter?
Peatlands are one of the most effective carbon sinks on Earth.
When degraded, they become significant sources of CO₂ emissions.
Restoration of peatlands is a nature-based solution for climate mitigation and biodiversity conservation.
